anniversary of meeting

My poor guy has been sick, but not too sick to go to work. He was sick on his two days off. He spent the first day watching rented movies. The second day he stayed in bed. I went shopping with a friend most of the day. He never complains about my silly little purchases. The 23rd anniversary of our meeting for the first time is this weekend. I don't expect him to remember it. Then there's our engagement anniversary in a few months. He remembers that because he chose his favorite holiday to propose. It was a Sunday morning and he came over early to take me out for hot chocolate. We went to a lake to watch the sunrise. Then he pulled out 2 carnations on one stem. He explained that we were the carnations and God was the stem. I was listening closely to his "speech" and didn't have a clue what was next. He proposed! I was so surprised. I'd been so happy having a real "boyfriend" that I hadn't thought about the future. But it didn't take me long to say yes after he asked, "Will you marry me?" Then he gave me a diamond ring. That must have been the happiest day of my life. We decided to keep it a secret for a while and enjoy it. We went to breakfast at Your Mother's in Stillwater. We sat through Sunday School class as if nothing happened. At the evening service I wore my ring. Shortly after services were over a friend noticed it. She began screaming and made everyone look. He disappeared. It was hilarious. I think we all went out for ice cream after my friend calmed down.
